Armando Y. Estevez Diaz, MSN, FNP-BC, ARNP is a bilingual Nurse Practitioner at Miami Eye Center. A foreign-trained physician bringing more than 17 years of extensive ophthalmology experience, he specializes in diagnosing and treating eye disease.
Armando received his medical degree in Cuba at the Medical Sciences Institute Serafin Ruiz de Zarate of Villa Clara in 1998, where he practiced medicine in local communities until 2005. From there, he completed an ophthalmology residency at Arnaldo Milian University Hospital through 2008 and his pediatric ophthalmology residency at the Cuban ophthalmologic institute Ramon Pando Ferrer in Havana, Cuba, from 2008 to 2010. For the next 5 years, he practiced ophthalmology in offices and hospital settings before moving to the United States in 2016.
Armando began his journey with Miami Eye Center as an ophthalmic technician. During his time working as a skilled technician and holding progressive leadership roles, he was also in school to become a nurse at Miami Regional University. After receiving his nursing degree, he worked as an operating room nurse at Miami Eye Center and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Upon graduating with his nursing degree in 2018, he continued his education by pursuing a Nurse Practitioner Degree in 2020 from Miami Regional University, where he graduated on the President's List with Honors. He became an Autonomous Nurse Practitioner in 2021. He is board-certified by the Florida Board of Nursing as well as the Florida Board of Nurse Practitioners.
Armando has dedicated the majority of his career working at Miami Eye Center in different roles, most recently as an ophthalmic nurse practitioner. He has always maintained a strong focus in ophthalmology, working alongside our team to provide comprehensive eye care services for our patients. His love and interest in ophthalmology have allowed him to provide high-quality care and education for patients with ocular diseases. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
