Miami Eye Center is a federally licensed ambulatory surgery facility established in 1985. It is inspected by the State regularly and must achieve the highest levels of safety to maintain the licensure. When licensed, it was the first of its kind in South Florida. The Center has seen more than 20,000 patients pass through since that time. The most important service that the Center has offered is same-day surgery in an intimate setting, which is dedicated exclusively to eye surgery. You will never see an orthopedic patient in the adjacent bed. The nursing staff, anesthetists and physicians have developed an extensive experience in treating young adults to the very elderly with a wide range of eye problems requiring both traditional and laser surgery.

The operating room which is licensed by Medicare, is a completely enclosed sterile environment. There is state of the art monitoring equipment to safeguard the patient during the surgical procedure. Modern advances in eye surgery technology are evident throughout the facility; the Zeiss operating microscope and Zeiss YAG laser, Bausch and Lomb Millenium phacoemulsifier for cataract surgery are some of the central devises. An adjacent recovery room supervised by the anesthetist and registered nurse insure personalized attention during the brief recovery process. 

The wide range of procedures available at the Center includes cataract removal with intraocular lens implantation, glaucoma surgery, corneal transplantation and eyelid procedures.
